Who we are and how to contact us

Woolworths Group Limited trading as BIG W (‘BIG W’, ‘we’) is concerned to protect your personal information. If you have an enquiry about how we collect, use or disclose your personal information, you can contact us by email at privacy@woolworths.com.au or by telephone on 1300 908 631.

Collection purposes

We collect your personal information, including your name, address, date of birth, and your payment details, primarily to provide you with products, services and customer support. We also collect information via our apps on mobile devices, for example the current location of your device, as allowed by your device permissions.

We may also collect government issued identification numbers (‘Additional Information’) to detect and monitor habitual refunders. Any Additional Information collected will be used for verification purposes and will not be used or disclosed for marketing and promotion purposes.

We may use your personal information (excluding Additional Information) for the following purposes:

  • marketing and promotion purposes;
  • research and analytical purposes;
  • to perform administrative functions;
  • to communicate with you about your purchases (including via surveys and product reviews which may be published on BIG W online through our website or mobile applications);
  • to seek customer feedback from you (including via surveys and product reviews) and to publish feedback provided;
  • for business improvement purposes;
  • to keep our records accurate and up-to-date;
  • to respond to your enquiries and complaints; and
  • to comply with our legal obligations

Who do we collect from

We collect personal information or Additional Information from you or a person authorised by you to place an order. We do so when you visit us in-store, online or otherwise engage with us, for instance when you contact our call centres, or when you browse our websites, apps or other digital assets (like most businesses, we use technologies like cookies - click here to see how they work). You can opt-out from receiving push notifications, in-app messages or sharing your location with us by changing the permission on your mobile device.

Please do not disclose the personal information of any individual to BIG W unless they have first reviewed and agreed to the terms of this notice.

If you do not provide this information in whole or in part, we may not be able to provide you with the services you require.

We collect personal information and/or Additional Information when you complete an application form at our stores or online, or when you provide details over the phone.

Disclosure to others:

We will treat any personal information and Additional Information that you give us as confidential within BIG W and its parent company Woolworths Group Limited.

We will request that any third party organisations (such as our suppliers, partners and service providers who perform functions or services on our behalf) to which your personal information or Additional Information is disclosed also treats this information as confidential. We are likely to disclose your personal information overseas. Our Privacy Policy provides further information about the countries in which those recipients are likely to be located.
