Yes, the NSW Government requires customers to be fully vaccinated or have a medical contraindication certificate in order to enter and shop safely in our stores. You will be required to provide proof of having both vaccination shots or a medical contraindication certificate, and to use the NSW QR check in app when visiting our stores. We will support this by having signage at the front of the store stating the requirements and providing the QR code, and having a team member check customers’ vaccination status on entry.
You can provide proof of vaccination status via the Service NSW app (when this becomes available), Medicare app, the digital wallet on your smartphone or a printed copy of your digital record certificate or immunisation record.
The NSW Government Roadmap indicates that customers and team members need to take all reasonable care to get vaccinated, and therefore only double vaccinated customers will be permitted to shop in store, please see here for more details.
If you are not yet fully vaccinated you can continue to shop with us online at bigw.com.au and enjoy the convenience of home delivery as well as our free Contactless Pick Up and Direct to Boot services.

In the NSW Government Roadmap, they have indicated that customers will not be able to shop in non-critical retail stores unless they are fully vaccinated or have a medical contraindication certificate. BIG W is considered to be non-critical retail, whereas Woolworths Supermarkets is considered critical retail. In line with the NSW Government’s Health orders, customers will need to be fully vaccinated or have a medical contraindication certificate to shop in store.
Select BIG W stores that have previously been open for essential items only no longer fall under the ‘critical retail’ classification from Monday 11 October. Therefore, we need to comply with the NSW Government Roadmap which requires that all customers over the age of 16 are fully vaccinated or have a medical contraindication certificate in order to enter and shop safely in our stores.
