Choosing the Right Bike
When buying a bike it's important to consider the size of the bike and the style of riding you will be doing. A correctly chosen bike should be comfortable to ride and match the age, height, gender and style of the rider.
How to choose the right size bike
|Height||Riders should be able to stand astride the bikes frame with both feet flat on the ground.|
|Comfort||Riders should be able to comfortably reach the pedals with confidence.|
|Controls||Riders should be able to fully operate the brakes and all handlebar mounted controls.|
The size of a bike is especially important when buying kids bikes. Large bikes often weigh more and small children may have difficulty balancing on the bike. Large tires are also more difficult for children to turn so choosing a bike with smaller tires helps them build confidence and strength. Consider purchasing a bike with training wheels if it is their first time riding a bicycle and remembering to adjust or remove the training wheels when they have mastered balancing.
